What: Ecclesiastical Council for Susan Soric.
What is that? An ecclesiastical council is the next-to-last step in a candidate for ordination’s journey toward ordained ministry. As part of the discernment process for ordained ministry, the candidate writes a paper that summarizes her theology and understanding of UCC polity. At the ecclesiastical council, the candidate meets with members of the Church and Ministry Council, plus members of other UCC churches in the CMA, to discuss the paper and answer questions about it, as well as her call for ministry. If approved at the council, the candidate may be ordained as a minister in the UCC.
When: Wednesday, Nov. 19, beginning with snacks and refreshments at 6:30 p.m. and the council at 7 p.m.
Where: Wellington Avenue UCC, 615 W. Wellington Ave., in Chicago’s Lakeview neighborhood, on the corner of Wellington and Broadway. Click here for directions.
