October Helping Hands Offering –
Neighbors in Need

The focus of this year’s National UCC Neighbors in Need offering is environmental justice.

Plastics, electronics, and other non-compostable wastes are being shipped across, and even tossed into, our waterways, launched into space, as well as buried in landfills. As people of faith, we believe these egregious acts are sinful and unholy. We must be better stewards of our planet!

As Dick Simpson mentioned in church on Sunday, this offering is a great way to grow our reach! Working together with all the other UCC congregations in the country, we can help to raise a million dollars!

One-third of the offering supports Council for American Indian Ministry (CAIM), and two-thirds are used by Justice and Witness Ministries to provide grants to UCC churches and organizations as well as supporting a variety of justice initiatives, advocacy efforts, and direct service projects.

Please call Congress TODAY and demand support for a ceasefire in Gaza.

Donate generously to any of these folks:

Dissenters, the organization that Debbie Southorn works for, is working around the clock to support their student leaders! These college students are being harassed, doxxed, and threatened with expulsion/losing job offers for speaking out against war and speaking up for peace. Click here to support one of their Palestinian students at NYU, and to speak up for her support and protection.

Closer to home – support our neighbors, old and new!

Wellington’s Immigrant Justice Task Force invites you to support Dignified Care for All!

This comprehensive “both/and” solutions-based approach advocates for actions our elected officials can take to welcome the newest Illinois residents with dignity and respect – while also lifting up residents in communities experiencing decades of disinvestment and discriminatory practices.

This project aligns perfectly with Wellington’s social justice values and aspirations! Learn more & contact your representatives today!

Special Outing to Timeline Theatre!

Can we get a group of 10 together to enjoy a Wellington night at our beloved Timeline Theatre? Let Debbie Lee know TODAY if you’re interested!

When: Wed. November 15th
Where: Timeline Theater
615 W. Wellington
Time: 7:30PM

Plot: When assigned the job of fact-checking a legendary writer’s essay about the city of Las Vegas, an eager young intern, Jim Fingal, discovers many of the essay’s details were made up. An exploration of the nature of truth, drawn from true events, is expertly crafted and followed by an audience discussion.
