You can still contribute – either by mailing a check to the church office with the note “Helping Hands” in the memo line, or by giving online (be sure to select “Helping Hands” from the drop down menu).

Thank you for your generosity! Together we can do so much more than we can do alone.

for our Tenebrae service.
Music, candlelight, readings and Communion will fill your cup.

Wellington does not hold services on Good Friday – but here are three observances for you to choose from!

  • Mennonite Action Chicago, in concert with other Chicago area peace organizations, will be holding a Memorial Vigil service at NOON downtown at Chicago Federal Plaza (Jackson and Dearborn) in memory of the Palestinians killed in Gaza. The vigil will gather around pairs of shoes displayed as symbols of the lives lost, and will include the reading of Gazan victims’ names, personal stories, songs and more, calling for a permanent ceasefire. Wellington is an official co-sponsor of this event!
  • University Church Chicago is offering a musical journey through Good Friday, 7 Last Words of Christ by Theodore Dubois, from 5-6pm (in person & online) More info HERE.
  • St. Paul’s UCC is offering a Tenebrae service with choir & communion at 7:30pm (in person & online). More info HERE.

If you’re an early riser on Easter Morning, you’ll find your pastor, a Mary Oliver poem, and some freshly baked goods at the lakefront at 6:30am! All are welcome at the pier in Rogers Park (Farwell & the lake).

At 10:30am, we’ll gather in Nambu Chapel (lower level of North Shore Baptist Church, 5244 N. Lakewood Ave) with trumpet! cello! piano! beautiful flowers! and SO MUCH JOY.
Hope to see you there in person – or with us online.

Book Club meets next on April 20th!
Brenda Friedman will facilitate the discussion of Horse: A novel
by Geraldine Brooks.

“A testament to the intelligence and humanity of animals,
a stinging rebuke of racist and abusive humans, and a study of
how the past gets recorded, remembered, and remade . . .
anyone who ever grew up loving horses, anyone who
dearly loves an animal, will find a cornucopia of riches in this novel.”
