A restful and rejuvenating time was had by all who were able to attend the annual church retreat at Tower Hill last weekend!
This photo by Jim Morris captures the spirit perfectly.
We paused to celebrate all that we’ve experienced together as a faith community over the past five years, and recommitted ourselves to the next chapter of Wellington.
We had fun! There was a “Rock, Paper, Scissors” tournament that transformed losers into enthusiastic cheerleaders, we wrote a “dating profile” for the church, and enjoyed bonfires and BBQ.
We also reflected on the actual steps we need to take, both individually and as a community, to turn our hopes and dreams for the future into realities.
During worship on Sunday morning, we were all invited to fill out index cards with the action(s) we are willing to commit to in the next year.
We’ll have index cards on hand when we gather for our
“Welcome Home” worship services on September 28 if you still need to fill one out! You can also check out a digital version HERE.

Celebrate 90 years of social justice work in Chicago!

Wellington has a long history of partnership with AFSC –
and we’d love to have a full table at their anniversary event on Saturday, September 27th!
This will be a chance to reconnect and share memories and stories of our work together challenging racist housing laws, protecting immigrant communities, advocating for Palestine, standing against U.S. wars and militarism, and
building a world beyond policing and prisons.
Join us at the Chicago Teacher’s Union Foundation venue for a light dinner that reflects the cultures of many of the communities where we work and struggle together.
This celebration is also an opportunity to support the work of the AFSC Chicago Peacebuilding and U.S. Palestine Activism programs through ticket purchase, sponsorship, or direct gifts.
