Last week, Israel approved a plan to turn the headquarters of United National Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) in East Jerusalem into a settlement that contains a museum, recruitment office, and headquarters for the Israeli Army. This plan is against international law and comes after years of attacks on UNRWA and the dismantling of UNRWA in East Jerusalem.
PERSONAL NOTE: When Craig and Chris joined the November 2024 international delegation to Palestine, Chris was asked to lead the singing as their group was welcomed into the UNRWA building pictured below, meeting with staff who were under threat due to their work in providing food, education and healthcare to Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank.
This entire complex has since been demolished by Israel.

Holy God, we pray for the over 800,000 refugees in East Jerusalem and the West Bank who live in insecurity and worsening oppression. Help us to tear down the false idols of violence and to seek instead the paths of justice, mercy, and peace.
God in your mercy…hear our prayer.

Join us Wednesday, June 17th, 6:00-7:00 pm ET, for an online ecumenical worship service in observance of World Refugee Day. With the U.S. Refugee Admissions Program frozen since January 2025, and resettled refugees facing an onslaught of diminishing protections and expanding threats, it is more important than ever to gather in lament, solidarity, and celebration of the right to seek refuge.
