Sabeel, in coordination with the churches in Taybeh, recently organized a visit for 30 Christian youth from Jerusalem representing the Armenian, Orthodox, and Syrian Scout groups. The purpose of the visit was to learn about the history of Taybeh, stand in solidarity with its residents, and strengthen the connection between the youth and the land. During the visit, the group also took part in community service by cleaning the alleys of the old town and visiting elderly residents.

Holy God, we thank you for working through all participants and organizers to strengthen the communion between Jerusalem and Taybeh. Holy Spirit, we ask you to strengthen our scout groups with creativity, unity, and commitment to solidarity. Make us instruments of your love by bearing witness and showing up where it is needed.

God in your mercy…hear our prayer.

Our selected book for July is The Correspondent, a novel by Virginia Evans:

” Filled with knowledge that only comes from a life fully lived, The Correspondent is a gem of a novel about the power of finding solace in literature and connection with people we might never meet in person. It is about the hubris of youth and the wisdom of old age, and the mistakes and acts of kindness that occur during a lifetime.” – Penguin Books
