NO IN PERSON CHURCH THIS WEEK!
Ro Khanna, a progressive Democratic politician and Member of the U.S. House of Representatives, was detained along with other Americans by armed settlers during a trip to the West Bank. Khanna reported that when the army arrived, they sided with the settlers and continued the group’s detention. The incident has drawn renewed attention to settler violence in the occupied West Bank. Last month, several Western countries sanctioned networks linked to settler violence. During the tour, Rep. Khanna was joined by B’Tselem’s executive director as an expert on settler violence.
God of the oppressed, we grieve the worsening situation in the West Bank. Through the experience of Rep. Khanna, illuminate to the world of the everyday crimes being committed in the West Bank. We pray for your presence and protection over the many families and communities in the West Bank who experience worsening settler and israeli military occupation violence.

August Funk, the Michael McConnell Fellow who served for years two and three of the inaugural program, has earned their MSW and is off to work in the Chicago Public Schools this fall.
