October Helping Hands Offering – Neighbors in Need

The focus of this year’s National UCC Neighbors in Need offering is
environmental justice.

As Dick Simpson mentioned in church on October 15th, this offering is a great way to grow our reach! Working together with all the other UCC congregations in the country, we can help to raise a million dollars!

One-third of the offering supports Council for American Indian Ministry (CAIM), and two-thirds are used by Justice and Witness Ministries to provide grants to UCC churches and organizations as well as supporting a variety of justice initiatives, advocacy efforts, and direct service projects.

Wellington’s Immigrant Justice Task Force invites you to support
Dignified Care for All!

This comprehensive “both/and” solutions-based approach advocates for actions our elected officials can take to welcome the newest Illinois residents with dignity and respect – while also lifting up residents in communities experiencing decades of disinvestment and discriminatory practices.

This project aligns perfectly with Wellington’s social justice values and aspirations! Learn more & contact your representatives today!

Special Outing to Timeline Theatre!

Can we get a group of 10 together to enjoy a Wellington night at our beloved Timeline Theatre? Let Debbie Lee know TODAY if you’re interested!

When: Sunday, November 19th
Where: Timeline Theater
615 W. Wellington
Time: 2:00pm Matinee

Plot: When assigned the job of fact-checking a legendary writer’s essay about the city of Las Vegas, an eager young intern, Jim Fingal, discovers many of the essay’s details were made up. An exploration of the nature of truth, drawn from true events, is expertly crafted and followed by an audience discussion.

“Vividly written and exhaustively researched, this is the first major biography in decades of the civil rights icon Martin Luther King Jr. – and the first to include recently declassified FBI files. In this landmark biography, the author gives us a King for our times: a deep thinker, a brilliant strategist, and committed radical who led one of history’s greatest movements, and whose demands for racial and economic justice remain as urgent today as when they were in his lifetime.” (from the inside book cover)

You know you won’t tackle this one on your own – so join the Book Club on Saturday, November 18th to discuss it!

None of us like to think about the world continuing on without us – but it will. (We hope!)

A great gift for your loved ones – and yourself! – is to make sure all the details are in order for when you can no longer direct them.

Plan to stay a little longer after church on Sunday, November 19th. During Fellowship Hour, our Aging with Grace program will have
Life Binders on hand for you to claim and start filling.

Dave Safeblade, in his professional chaplaincy role, will be available to explain the various forms available, and to serve as a witness should you need one.

Not able to make it in person? We’ll deliver one to you!
Just let Pastor Ann-Louise know.

Sometimes you just need a document!
