The scene was quite chaotic at City Hall on Tuesday…but ultimately, the City Council PASSED the Bring Chicago Home resolution by a vote of 32-17!

This means that voters in the March election will be empowered to create a dedicated revenue stream that will generate around $100 million dollars every year to combat homelessness in the City of Chicago.

There’s still lots of work to do – educating voters & getting them to the polls – and we’ll let you know how to help with that. But for now, we celebrate this great step forward!

CARL’S COMING HOME!

On October 31st, Carl went before the Parole Board, and had a very positive hearing.

He is scheduled to be released on December 15th – and is looking forward to Wellington’s support every step of the way. Stay tuned for ways you can help!

We had a nice impromptu meet-up of members of the Sanctuary Working Group outside City Hall on Thursday!

ICIRR – the Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights – held a press conference calling for folks to resist the racist ideologies behind the move to rescind Chicago’s status as a Welcoming City.

If you haven’t done so yet, please click here and take 30 seconds to reach out to your Alderperson. Let them know you want Chicago to continue to welcome the stranger – and work towards housing, opportunity, and safety for all.
