Won’t You Let Me Be Your Servant – November 15, 2021

At Wellington Way, the Council announced a decision to use “Bee Democracy” as the process for finding our new physical home.

In this context, using Bee Democracy means:

  • starting from a place of shared interest & mutual respect
  • seeking diverse solutions to our problem
  • aggregating group knowledge through debate
  • using quorum responses for cohesion, accuracy & speed.

It also means we all have to do our part to scout for new possible locations! Stay tuned for news about how to do that.

Watch the video clip below to learn more about Bee Democracy. You can start at the 5 minute 30 second mark for the most relevant part.

Of course, no Wellington Way would be complete without a pledge card!
Pledge cards will be sent out soon to folks who didn’t pick one up in person at Wellington Way. You can also click on the image below to access an electonic copy.

Wellington’s Book Group meets at 10:00am
on the third Saturday of each month.
Newcomers are always welcome!

On November 19th, we will be discussing
Wake: The Hidden History of Women-Led Slave Revolts, by Rebecca Hall.

(A best book of 2021 by NPR and The Washington Post)

Part graphic novel, part memoir, Wake is an imaginative tour-de-force that tells the “powerful” (the New York Times Book Review) story of women-led slave revolts and chronicles scholar Rebecca Hall’s effort to uncover the truth about these women warriors who, until now, have been left out of the historical record.

Questions? Reach out to Claudette Richards, the Book Group Coordinator.
