Some of you attended this event in April, and wrote Clemency Letters on Michael’s behalf. His case was reviewed by the Parole Board eight months ago, with still no word on his possible release.
As you write your Christmas cards, please consider sending one to Governor JB Pritzker, encouraging him to grant Executive Clemency for Michael Johnson!
Address it to:
Governor JB Pritzker
401 S. Spring St.
Springfield, IL 62704
* Ask that Michael be released for Christmas. Michael and family are humbly requesting Executive Clemency, and release on time served. Be sure to include Michael’s Docket #39164
* Wish JB & family Happy Hanukkah & Merry Christmas (and Kwanzaa Blessings, if you’d like). JB is Jewish, while his wife MK was raised Protestant. They have two children. Hanukkah 2024 begins Wednesday, December 25 at sunset and ends Thursday, January 2 at nightfall. Kwanzaa is 7 days, from Dec 26 thru Jan 1.
* It need not be long. Just make sure to include “executive clemency” and “Michael Johnson, Docket #39164”
* Michael has served 39 years. Michael is 71, born on 3-7-53. Mary L is 91, born on 2-18-33. Let’s reunite them for Christmas. Mary L needs and certainly deserves Michael’s assistance and love.
Book Club

Afterlife, by Julia Alvarez.
“A compact, nimble, and sharply droll novel…it asks: What do we owe those in crisis in our families, including—maybe especially—members of our human family? How do we live in a broken world without losing faith in one another or ourselves? And how do we stay true to those glorious souls we have lost?” ~Goodreads

While Americans celebrate Christmas, people in the land where Jesus was born are enduring Israel’s genocidal war and bombardment with U.S. bombs. Show your solidarity by taking action with us, educating yourself, praying, and more.
Leading up to the vigil, we’ll share more about this day of action for the holy innocents, what it is, and how you can become an active participant with Christians for Ceasefire.
