PEACE

This Sunday is the second Sunday in Advent, and we’ll be lighting the candle of peace. Elaine Klemen is our liturgist, and Kay Snowfleet our candle-lighter. Hope to see you in the Zoom Sanctuary!

You have a few days before Council Members start making reminder phone calls about your 2024 pledge!

This is the final week to give towards this month’s
Helping Hands offering for the
Middle East Children’s Alliance (MECA)

Almost 2 million people in Gaza have been displaced.
17,177 people – including 7,112 children – have been killed*.

Families in Gaza are in need of your urgent support!

MECA’s staff and local partners in Gaza are on the ground responding to the most urgent needs of children and families.

Please give generously to provide medical aid, clean water, food, psychological support, and more. You can mail a check to the church office (P.O. Box 804687, Chicago, IL 60680-4108), or give online using the button below (be sure to choose “Helping Hands”)

CARL’S COMING HOME!

The Illinois Department of Corrections seems to operate under a system of “hurry up and wait!”

Details are still unclear and in flux, but Carl is still hoping to be released on December 15th – and is looking
forward to Wellington’s support every step of the way.

Join the
Book Club
on Saturday, December 16th at 10am

to discuss this wildly entertaining romp that also offers a “historically grounded indictment of the separate and unequal lives of Blacks and whites in mid-20th century New York.”  —Associated Press

The group will also be selecting titles to read in 2024 – so bring your recommendations!
