HYBRID WORSHIP THIS WEEK
AT NAMBU CHAPEL!

Welcome to Black History Month!

Whether you’re with us in person at Nambu Chapel
(need directions? click here!) or Zooming in from home, we hope to see you in worship on Sunday!

If you’d rather join by phone, just dial 312-626-6799 and enter the Meeting ID: 917 3218 6458.

We’re planning a tight service for tomorrow so you’ll have time to stay after church for a special Fellowship Hour. (There will even be special treats!)

We’ve invited the members of North Shore Baptist Church to join us at a brief teach-in about Bring Chicago Home. Organizers from ONE Northside will answer any questions you have about this initiatve, and share how we can help pass this life-changing referendum at the ballot box on March 19th.

Remember – this proposed change to the Real Estate Transfer Tax, which is paid only when a building is sold, will only impact around 4% of sales across the city. This small change will create an annual revenue stream of $100 million dollars to address & combat homelessness in Chicago.

Click here for a sneak peek on ways you can help pass this initiative!

TAKE ACTION FOR PEACE!

Until there is a permanent ceasefire in Gaza,
we must keep up the pressure on our elected officials.

Call today, please.

HELPING HANDS OFFERING – NEGRO SPIRITUAL REPARATIONS

(students of The People’s Music School performing at the Greater South Side Winter Concert, December 2023)

In January of 2022, the Wellington Worship Committee made a commitment to “pay royalties” each time we sing a Negro Spiritual in worship as a way to honor the legacy of enslaved African Americans. Unlike other hymns and worship music, Negro Spirituals were not published until after the names of their creators were long forgotten, if they were ever even known.

We pay these royalties by making a donation to The People’s Music School, in support of their Greater South Side site, which supports the development of young Black, Chicago-area musicians.

This month’s Helping Hands offering is going to support this project. If you didn’t get a chance to contribute during the service last week, please know that you can still give online – just select “Helping Hands” from the drop-down menu in Tithe.ly – or by mailing a check to the church office with the note “Helping Hands” in the memo line.
