Wellington does not hold services on Good Friday – but here are three observances for you to choose from!

  • Mennonite Action Chicago, in concert with other Chicago area peace organizations, will be holding a Memorial Vigil service at NOON downtown at Chicago Federal Plaza (Jackson and Dearborn) in memory of the Palestinians killed in Gaza. The vigil will gather around pairs of shoes displayed as symbols of the lives lost, and will include the reading of Gazan victims’ names, personal stories, songs and more, calling for a permanent ceasefire.
  • University Church Chicago is offering a musical journey through Good Friday, 7 Last Words of Christ by Theodore Dubois, from 5-6pm (in person & online) More info HERE.
  • St. Paul’s UCC is offering a Tenebrae service with choir & communion at 7:30pm (in person & online). More info HERE.

If you’re an early riser on Easter Morning, you’ll find your pastor, a Mary Oliver poem, and some freshly baked goods at the lakefront at 6:30am! All are welcome at the pier in Rogers Park (Farwell & the lake).

At 10:30am, we’ll gather in Nambu Chapel (lower level of North Shore Baptist Church, 5244 N. Lakewood Ave) with trumpet! cello! piano! beautiful flowers! and SO MUCH JOY.
Hope to see you there in person – or with us online.
