Wellington UCC & AFSC has partnered in piloting ‘WILD!’ – Wellington Institute 4 Leadership Development. This is a month-long, paid youth organizing institute for twenty young people, ages 15-19!

‘WILD!’ is hiring three part-time coordination interns from mid-April through August. This Spring, hours would be around 10 per week, with July being our ‘all-hands-on-deck’ month, with more like 20-25 hours per week. You’ll have support and mentorship from experienced community organizers and youth workers, and work in collaboration with other organizations and campaigns from around the city. Pay is $20/hr, with a transit stipend.

Click the button below to apply, or help us spread the word!
Deadline is March 31st.

On Sunday April 3, during a special hybrid service, AFSC will join Wellington UCC in celebrating the launch of this fellowship.
We hope to see you there, but space is limited so RSVP today
if you plan to attend in person!

Friday, April 15:  This Good Friday of 2022 we find ourselves battered and weary from yet another year of struggling against the challenges of disease, injustice, and destruction that we face at every turn. This is a very frightening time for many.

Wellington has a long history of joining the Good Friday Walk for Justice. YOU are invited to join us for the 2022 GFWJ as we celebrate all the ways in which we are accompanying one another in the work of creating a more peaceful, loving and just world.

What are the challenges confronting Americans in their struggle to build the United States as a multiracial, multiethnic nation? Dick Simpson, a long-time political activist and former Chicago alderman, uses the Windy City to examine how the political, racial, economic and social inequalities dividing us play out in our neighborhoods and cities. His new book “Democracy’s Rebirth: The View From Chicago”
is a blueprint for repairing democracy in America.
