Inspired by the example set by the United Parish in Brookline, MA, the Wellington Worship Committee has made a commitment to “pay royalties” each time we sing a Negro Spiritual in worship to honor the legacy of enslaved African Americans. Unlike other hymns and worship music, Negro Spirituals were not published until after the names of their creators were long forgotten, if they were ever even known.  We will pay royalties by making a donation to organizations that support the development of young Black, Chicago-area musicians. Lenten Discussion Circle

on Wednesdays
March 9 – April 6

This year we will use a devotional guide called
Vincent Van Gogh and the Beauty of Lent
as the focal point of our gatherings.

Using words of Scripture, online images, and excerpts from Van Gogh’s letters, we will look for glimmers of light and explore simple, powerful practices to guide us
on the journey towards Easter.

On March 9th – we’ll meet at NOON.
On March 16th – we’ll meet at 7PM.

After that, we’ll decide which time works best for the group.

You can pick up a copy of the study booklet at church on March 6th! You can also get one by mail or email if you
let Ann-Louise know.

Click HERE on Wednesdays to join in the discussion.
