Coming Soon!

Wellington’s Book Group meets at 10:00am
on the third Saturday of each month. Newcomers are always welcome!

In September, we will be discussing Agent Josephine: American Beauty, French Hero, British Spy by Damien Lewis.

“Prior to World War II, Josephine Baker was a music-hall diva renowned for her singing, her beauty and sexuality; she was the highest-paid female performer in Europe.

When the Nazis seized her adopted city, Paris, she was banned from the stage, along with all “Negroes and Jews.” Yet instead of returning to America, she vowed to stay and fight the Nazi evil. Overnight, she went from performer to resistance spy.”

Interested? Pick up a copy today, you’ll be ready
for some lively discussion by September 17th!

Want to get ahead on your reading?
In October, we’ll be discussing The Midnight Library by Matt Haig. November’s selection is Wake: The Hidden History of Women-Led Slave Revolts by Rebecca Hall

Questions? Reach out to Claudette Richards, the Book Group Coordinator.

Adopt-a-Beach teams have removed 491,562 pounds of litter from the Great Lakes since they started tracking litter in their online database. Reaching half a million pounds this year is possible! This will be an amazing volunteer accomplishment — and it will shine a powerful spotlight on plastic pollution in the Great Lakes.

Wellington gave a generous gift to The Alliance for the Great Lakes this year – and folks from Wellington helped to collect over 65 lbs of trash from Loyola Beach earlier this summer!

If you want to help collect more trash, and help them reach the half-million mark, we encourage you to join their push by signing up for another beach clean-up! Find one here.

On Saturday, September 24th, the gates to the Every Child Matters PowWow open at 11am, followed by the Grand Entry at 12:30pm.

Join us there!
Karen Stockwell is our Carpool Coordinator for the day –
let her know if you need a ride, or if you can offer a ride

The Outreach Committee has provided financial support to this event, which is organized by the American Indian Health Service of Chicago
