The number of people that have been displaced in Lebanon has risen to over 700,000 as Israel bombs neighborhoods and cities in Lebanon, with many displaced families turning their vehicles into makeshift shelters, covering them with tarps to shield themselves from the rain after failing to find space in local schools. At least 2,000 people have been killed across the Middle East since the U.S. and Israel attacked Iran on February 28.

God of the oppressed, you know what it is like to seek refuge from the violence and power of empire. We ask you to protect all enduring displacement, killing, and torture. Ensure the oppressed of your love, for “God will not leave you or forsake you.” (Deuteronomy 31:6) We pray for deliverance from the yoke of oppression.

God in your mercy…hear our prayer.

TELL YOUR SENATORS: NO FUNDING FOR ICE

On Friday, February 13th funding for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) expired. Though reporting suggests that DHS is “shutdown,” agencies that make up DHS including ICE and CBP can still operate at full force thanks to the billions that were given to DHS through last year’s reconciliation bill.

Use this tool from Detention Watch Network (DWN) and JVP Action to tell your Senators to vote NO on funding for ICE and CBP.

“Mother Mary Comes To Me, Arundhati Roy’s first work of memoir, is a soaring account, both intimate and inspirational, of how the author became the person and the writer she is, shaped by circumstance, but above all by her complex relationship to the extraordinary, singular mother she describes as “my shelter and my storm.” (Goodreads)
