Memorial Service for Tammy Snider
Sunday, March 15 at 1 o’clock in the afternoon

Please join us – onsite or online – as we gather to celebrate the life and mourn the passing of our sister Tammy. If you’re attending in person, feel free to bring pictures to share in the display – and be prepared to take an angel home with you afterwards! The service will be followed by a reception in the downstairs Fellowship Hall, which is accessible by elevator.

Over the last week. the war has been spreading and escalating. Israeli attacks on southern Lebanon and Beirut, which forced more than 300,000 people to flee and killed more than 200 people. In Iran, US-Israeli strikes targeted five key fuel depots in the Iranian capital Tehran in an act of ecocide and environmental devastation. More than 9 million people were exposed to toxic chemicals and chemical rain as a result of the massive fires. More than 1000 Iranian civilians have been killed by US-Israeli strikes, and 10 civilians were killed by Iranian strikes in Israel.

Holy God, we echo the despair of the Psalmist: “Why, O Lord, do you stand far off?  Why do you hide yourself in times of trouble?” (Psalm 10: 1) And yet, like the Psalmist, we hold onto faith that “you will hear the desire of the meek; you will strengthen their heart; you will incline your ear, to do justice for the orphan and the oppressed, so that those from earth may strike terror no more.” (Psalm 10:17-18) We plead, O Lord, for an immediate ceasefire and deliverance from the yoke of oppression.

God in your mercy…hear our prayer.

The U.S. and Israel have launched a brutal war on Iran — a country of 90 million people. Now, reports indicate that Trump might call on Congress to approve $50 billion in military funding to expand this immoral and illegal U.S-Israel war of aggression.

Use this tool from JVP Action to tell Congress to block ANY funding for this war on Iran.

TELL YOUR SENATORS: NO FUNDING FOR ICE

On Friday, February 13th funding for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) expired. Though reporting suggests that DHS is “shutdown,” agencies that make up DHS including ICE and CBP can still operate at full force thanks to the billions that were given to DHS through last year’s reconciliation bill.

Use this tool from Detention Watch Network (DWN) and JVP Action to tell your Senators to vote NO on funding for ICE and CBP.

“Mother Mary Comes To Me, Arundhati Roy’s first work of memoir, is a soaring account, both intimate and inspirational, of how the author became the person and the writer she is, shaped by circumstance, but above all by her complex relationship to the extraordinary, singular mother she describes as “my shelter and my storm.” (Goodreads)

Invite a friend to join us!

Since the last day of March falls during Holy Week, there is no Last Supper this month.

Instead, we will be joining our friends from First Church for their Love Feast and Footwashing Service on Thursday, April 2nd.

You can participate even if you want to keep your socks and shoes on!
Hope to see you there.
